Expandable Container Homes: How They Work and Why They Are Better
Expandable container homes are the biggest innovation in affordable housing since the mobile home. Here is how they work and why they beat standard shipping container homes.
The Expansion Mechanism
ATVWorldwide patented steel frame expansion system transforms a standard 8-foot-wide container into a 16-18 foot wide living space. Floor panels fold down, walls extend outward, and within hours you have triple the original square footage.
Why Expandable Beats Standard
Standard shipping containers at 8 feet wide feel like a hallway. Expandable containers at 16+ feet give you proper rooms with furniture, walk-around space, and natural light through side windows.
