Steel conducts heat 300 times faster than wood. Without insulation a container is an oven or freezer. Minimum R-13 for moderate climates, R-20 for Canada or northern US. Australia and Southwest US: R-13 with a radiant barrier. Best insulation: closed cell spray foam (highest R per inch, also a vapor barrier). Or polyurethane panels. Or mineral wool which is fire resistant. Ventilation matters as much as insulation. Ridge vents let hot air escape. Solar roof vents keep air moving. Cross ventilation through opposite windows. Best all around option: a mini split heat pump. It heats and cools efficiently. Sizing: 10FT needs 6000-9000 BTU. 20FT needs 9000-12000 BTU. 40FT needs 12000-18000 BTU.
