Why a pharmacy suits a steel unit
A pharmacy needs three things that a container already provides: a secure shell, a controlled interior environment and a footprint that can be put somewhere a permanent building cannot be built. Dispensing requires a locked store that is separate from the public area, and a steel shell with a compartmented interior does that naturally.
The relocatable quality matters more than it first appears. A pharmacy serving a community on a temporary site or in a growing district can be positioned where the need is now and moved when it changes. A permanent building cannot.
The counter is the third fit. A dispensing pharmacy works over a counter with shelving behind it, and the depth of that arrangement is what determines the shell size. A small community pharmacy fits a single small unit; a busier dispensary needs the larger size.
The internal layout that works
The public space stays at the front. A counter runs across the serving side, with a counter height around 1,050 millimetres so that a standing customer and a seated staff member can both work comfortably. Behind the counter is the working area with shelving for stock, and behind that is the locked store.
The locked store needs a solid door and ideally a separate structural division from the public space rather than a curtain. Dispensing also benefits from a compartment for controlled items, positioned so that access is visible from the working area.
A consultation room is required in most places for private conversations. In a small unit this is often a partitioned room off the working area, sized for two chairs and a desk. If the unit is small, the consultation space can take priority over stock storage, because stock can be held in a separate unit while a conversation cannot be held in the open.
Environment and equipment
Pharmaceutical stock is sensitive to heat. An insulated, temperature-controlled unit is not a luxury in a warm climate, it is a requirement for stock integrity. Insulation combined with cooling keeps the interior within a working range even when the outside temperature climbs.
Power demand is steady rather than heavy. Lighting, refrigeration for temperature-sensitive items, a till and a dispensing system are all continuous draws, which means the supply must be adequate for a load that never switches off.
Security equipment is the other load. An alarm, cameras and a network connection are all normal in a dispensing pharmacy and all need cabling that is planned rather than added.
Regulation and local approval
Pharmacy premises are regulated locally, and the requirements differ between countries and often between regions. Licensing usually covers the size of the dispensing area, the security of the controlled store, the consultation facility and access for people with reduced mobility.
Our role is to supply the unit shell and the specified fit-out items. Premises approval, licensing and professional requirements are matters for you and your regulator, and they are worth confirming before the shell is specified, because a requirement such as a counter height for wheelchair access changes the layout.
Sending us the local checklist alongside your order means the unit can be built to meet it.
Delivery and payment
Units are delivered port-to-port under FOB terms. Local transport from the port, installation, service connections and duties are arranged by the buyer, and a local contractor can complete the fit-out on arrival.
Payment is by bank transfer in full, due in full before production. There is no online checkout; every order begins with a written quotation that sets out the specification, the unit price and the delivery terms.
Send your regulator requirements, the unit size you are considering and your nearest port for a delivered quote.
