Container Data Centre and Edge Server Room — Compute That Arrives Built
Quick answer
A container data centre is a unit built to house servers and network equipment, with power distribution, cooling and physical security designed in. It suits an edge site near where the data is generated, a temporary compute environment, and an operator expanding capacity faster than a building can be constructed. Payment is by bank transfer in full.

Why compute has moved into containers
A data centre is really three problems: getting power in, getting heat out, and keeping people out. Each of those can be solved inside a steel unit, and solving them during manufacture means the unit arrives as a complete environment rather than a shell waiting for a specialist fit-out.
The commercial driver is speed. Where compute capacity is needed at a location faster than a building can be built and commissioned, a unit can be produced and delivered on a known date. That is why containerised compute is used for edge sites, temporary capacity and disaster recovery.
Power and cooling
Power distribution is the core of the design. Equipment racks draw a known load, and the unit is specified with a distribution arrangement sized for that load, with provision for the redundancy the operator requires. Where the site supply is limited, that limit is known before the specification is fixed.
Cooling follows the load. A unit full of servers produces concentrated heat, and the cooling arrangement moves it out efficiently rather than cooling the whole volume. Hot and cold aisle separation inside the unit is the usual method, and it is designed around the rack layout.
Security and access control
Physical security for a compute unit runs from the outside in. The steel shell resists forced entry, the doors are specified with security hardware, and access control governs who can open them. Inside, individual racks can be locked separately so that one operator does not have access to another operator’s equipment.
Where the unit is shared between tenants, the internal layout supports separation, and where it is single-tenant the whole unit is the security boundary.
Siting and the site services
A compute unit has a high power demand relative to its size, and the site connection is often the limiting factor. The unit also produces sustained noise from the cooling, which affects where it can be sited relative to neighbours.
Those two constraints shape the site plan. A location with a suitable supply and some distance from housing is what the unit needs, and confirming both before the specification is fixed saves redesign later.
What a quote request needs
Tell us the rack count and the power per rack, the redundancy required, and whether the site supply has been confirmed. Those three numbers determine the cooling and distribution, and therefore the unit specification.
What an edge site is for
An edge site exists because some computing needs to happen close to where the data is produced rather than in a distant hall. That might be a manufacturing plant, a port, a retail site or a medical facility where the round trip to a central data centre is too slow.
That use case defines the unit. The compute load is known and relatively fixed, the site is usually not a purpose-built facility, and the unit often has to fit into space that was never intended for servers. A steel unit gives a standardised environment that can be dropped onto an ordinary site.
Performance, maintenance and access
A compute unit needs to be serviced by people who may not be based on site. Access for maintenance is therefore part of the design: racks positioned so that components can be swapped without dismantling anything, and doors and clearances that let equipment be moved in and out.
Cooling plant needs the same consideration. Filters and moving parts require periodic attention, so the plant is located where it can be reached without entering the secure equipment area.
Tell us the operating model and the unit can be laid out around it.
Frequently asked questions
How is payment handled?
Payment is by bank transfer in full before production.
How are units delivered?
Units ship folded and are delivered port-to-port (FOB). You arrange local transport from the port to your site.
Can I order more than one unit?
Yes. Multi-unit orders ship together, which lowers the freight cost per unit.
