France is where second homes, gites, and rural plots make compact dwellings attractive. If you are weighing a container home here, this is the practical rundown: what fits, what it costs, how it reaches you, and what you handle yourself.
Why this works in France
The shell is the selling point. Containers are built to take a beating at sea, so on land they are tough, low-maintenance, and quick to finish. In France’s temperate climate that durability matters.
What a container home gives you
The common builds are one- and two-bedroom homes, home offices, garden studios, and rental units. You get a clean interior because it is fitted out from scratch.

What you can order
- 10FT Expandable – a compact studio, office, or annexe.
- 20FT Expandable & Premium – the most popular pick for a one- or two-bedroom home.
- 40FT Premium & Deluxe – full family homes.
- Double-Storey Villa – for when land is tight.
