Three small-home options come up again and again: the container home, the mobile home, and the tiny house. Each has real strengths, and the right one depends on what you value. Here is a plain comparison, without the sales talk.
Durability over the long haul
A container home starts life as a steel structure engineered to cross an ocean stacked under weight, so its shell is far stronger than the thin walls and light frames of a typical mobile home or tiny house. It does not rot, warp, or sag, and it stands up to wind, snow, and hard weather with far less maintenance. A mobile home is the most fragile of the three over decades, and a stick-built tiny house sits between the two.
Cost and value
On a per-square-metre basis, a container home is usually the strongest value because the shell is already fabricated and only has to be fitted out. A tiny house can cost more per metre, since everything is built from scratch, and a mobile home can look cheap up front but loses value and needs more repair over time. Our container units start at $11,995 USD for a 10FT and $15,995 USD for a 20FT expandable.

Sizes and living space
The common formats, side by side:
- Container home — steel shell, best durability and value, ships worldwide port-to-port (FOB).
- Mobile home — quick to site by road, but the least durable over decades.
- Tiny house — fully custom and towable, but usually the highest cost per metre.
- Our sizes — 10FT, 20FT expandable, 40FT, and double-storey, from $11,995 USD.
Delivery and siting
This is where container homes differ most: they ship port-to-port (FOB) from the factory, so the unit and the sea freight are covered, and the last leg to your site is arranged on your side. A mobile home usually arrives by road on its own chassis, and a tiny house often has to be built or assembled near where it will sit. If you are placing several units, containers travel together efficiently, which keeps the freight per unit low.
Payment and the plain deal
Our container homes are paid for by bank transfer in full — there is no financing, which keeps the price honest and the deal simple. Whatever option you choose, work out the true cost including siting, hookups, and delivery before you commit.
The short answer
If you want the toughest shell, the best value per metre, and worldwide shipping at a fixed freight price, a container home wins. If you want something you can tow yourself or fully custom-build on site, the other two have their place. Match the building to how you will actually use it, and the choice becomes obvious.
